Day Solutions Foundation (DSF)

DSF is committed to utilizing our resources to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities in the Central Missouri area.

Our Story

When Day Solutions Inc., a day program for adults with developmental disabilities opened in 2015, we quickly realized the population we serve has needs beyond what we could meet through the day program alone. Our clients live off their disability checks, ranging from $650 to $900 per month. This check must cover rent, food, utilities, and personal items, leaving little for extra-curricular activities.  Unfortunately, many of our clients do not have the ability to improve their financial situation. Simply put, our clients are one of society's most vulnerable populations. This glaring need resulted in the formation of Day Solutions Foundation in 2016.

Our Mission

Our mission at the Day Solutions Foundation is to empower individuals with developmental disabilities in the state of Missouri by creating meaningful experiences, otherwise unavailable, providing opportunities for positive community engagement and access to goods, services, and support that help build self-confidence, maximize personal growth and improve the quality of life.

DSF offers a variety of programs throughout our community and surrounding areas. Additionally, we do our best to help connect and provide information to families about other programs, benefits, and helpful resources to the families and caretakers of those with special needs.

Community Integration

Community Integration is by far our most popular program because it gives our clients access to our community that they otherwise wouldn’t have because of their financial constraints. We provide transportation and cover the client's cost of community activities. This can be as simple as a bowling experience, a trip to the pool, or a manicure. We also coordinate larger experiences like taking in a show at the FOX Theater, visiting Wonders of Wildlife Aquarium in Springfield, and The Gentle Farm outside of St. Louis.

Social Skills Speech Group

DSF partners with Speak-Easy, LLC, to provide free social skills group therapy to adults with developmental disabilities. A licensed speech pathologist leads all therapy in the state of Missouri. Each group therapy session lasts 6-8 weeks, providing our clients a safe space to learn, practice, and develop social skills with their peers.

Night to Shine

DSF partners with Capital West Christian Church to support Tim Tebow’s annual Night to Shine in Jefferson City. Since 2020, DSF has provided up to $5,000 per year to cover the cost of tuxedo rental for the gentlemen who attend Night to Shine.

Stars Night Out

Since 2019, DSF has partnered with JC Parks to cover the cost of their Stars Night Out program. This program provides social events twice a month for adults with developmental disabilities. They coordinate dances, hayrides, themed dinners, pool parties, and more. This popular program is not free, and even a small cost can be prohibitive for our clientele. So, DSF commits $5,000 yearly to cover the cost of all individuals with developmental disabilities in our community who desire to participate in Stars Night Out.
